Makes 54 medium cookies. Easy to roll out and make cut-out cookies

Recipe Ingredients for Gingerbread cut-out cookies

6 cups flour, all purpose
1 T baking powder
1 T ginger, ground
1 T cinnamon, ground
1 T nutmeg, ground
1 T cloves, ground
1 cup Shortening, melted and slightly cooled
1 cup molasses
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

Recipe Directions for Gingerbread cut-out cookies

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves- set aside.

  2. Mix shortening, molasses, sugar, water, egg and vanilla until smooth. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until they are completely absorbed. Divide the dough into 3 pieces, pat down to 1 1/2 inches, wrap in plastic wrap & refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. On slightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 in thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

  4. Bake 10-12 minutes.
