Gingerbread Cookies Recipe

Makes 40 servings



Soft Gingerbread cookies. Take a little time, but they are so sinfully good. May want to only make half batch... makes alot.

Recipe Ingredients for Gingerbread Cookies

1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 large egg
6 1/2 cups white flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 1/2 cup molasses
1/3 cup water

Recipe Directions for Gingerbread Cookies

  1. Cream together margarine, shortening and sugar.

  2. Add egg, mix.

  3. Add molasses, mix.

  4. In a serperate bowl, mix together dry ingrediants: flour, b.soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, allspice and cream of tartar.

  5. Gradually add dry ingrediants to wet, alternatively with 1/3 cup hot water.

  6. Mix well.

  7. Wrap dough in wax paper and refrigerate for 3 hours.

  8. Roll 1/4" thick and cut into fun shapes.

  9. Pre-heat oven to 350'F.

  10. Cook on greased cookie sheet for 8-10 min.

  11. Let cool overnight before adding icing, or eat as is.
