Recipe Ingredients for Gingerbread Cake

2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup molasses
1 egg
1 cup water, boiled

Recipe Directions for Gingerbread Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Stir flour, baking powder,ginger, baking soda and cinnamon in medium bowl.

  2. Beat butter, sugar and molasses in large bowl. Mix in egg. Add flour mixture alternating with water, stirring just until blended. Pour into greased 9 inch square baking pan.

  3. Bake 40 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Invert cake onto wire rack to cool completely.
