Recipe Ingredients for Ginger-steamed Asparagus and Carrots

350 g asparagus
350 g carrots
600 ml chicken stock
1 clove garlic, halved
8 g Ginger Root , 4 slices
1 onion, sliced
2 tsp sesame oil

Recipe Directions for Ginger-steamed Asparagus and Carrots

  1. Cut the woody stems from the asparagus, then cut into 5 cm (2 inch) lengths, Set the tips aside.

  2. Cut the carrots into strips the same length.

  3. Place the stock, ginger, garlic and onion in the base of a steamer and bring it to the boil.

  4. Steam the asparagus stalks and carrots for 4 minutes. Add the tips, season with a little salt and pepper, and steam for a further 2 minutes.

  5. Toss the vegetables in the sesame oil, transfer to a warmed serving dish and serve immediately.
