Delicious gingersnap cookies. If done right, will be soft, not hard!

Recipe Ingredients for Ginger Snaps

4 cups flour
2 cups Brown Sugar
1 1/2 cups Shortening
1/2 cups molasses
2 Eggs
4 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Recipe Directions for Ginger Snaps

  1. Mix Eggs and molasses well.

  2. Add shortening and mix for 3-4 minutes.

  3. Add brown sugar and mix until mixture is creamy (3-5 minutes).

  4. Add baking soda, salt, ginger, cloves and cinnamon and mix well.

  5. Finally, add flour 1 cup at a time until mixed thoroughly.

  6. Chill dough in refrigerator for at least one hour.

  7. Roll into balls, roll in sugar, then place on greased cookie sheet.

  8. Cook 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
