Recipe Ingredients for General Tsao's Chicken and Rice 500 Calories

1 1/2 cups Chicken Broth, Low Salt
4 tablespoons Sugars, Brown
6 tablespoons Soy Sauce
2 tablespoons White Wine Vinegar
4 teaspoons Ginger Root
4 tablespoons Cornstarch
2 teaspoons Cooking Spray
6 teaspoons Minced Garlic
2 teaspoons Red Pepper Flakes
3 1/2 cups Chopped Chicken
1 cup instant rice

Recipe Directions for General Tsao's Chicken and Rice 500 Calories

  1. General Tsao's Chicken

  2. Whisk together broth, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar and ginger. Set aside.

  3. Wait until just before pouring over the meal to add in the cornstarch.

  4. Start preparing the rice.

  5. Spray a wok or non-stick skillet and add cooking spray. Add Minced Garlic and red paper flakes and cook for 2-3 minutes

  6. Add chicken. Use more cookie if necessary to assist with the browning. Cook about 5-8 minutes. The chicken should be almost done before you add the sauce.

  7. Add cornstarch to your sauce bowl and whisk. Add to your chicken in the pan and heat until boiling, then reduce to a simmer. The boiling of the sauce will cause the cornstarch to thicken. Soon it will be as thick as the General Tso's sauce you're used to!

  8. Serve chicken and sauce over rice.
