Sauteed green beans with cannelini and whole wheat pasta. Based on http://cheaphealthygood.blogspot.com/2008/11/city-kitchen-chronicles-long-beans-and.html (substituted green beans for long beans.)

Recipe Ingredients for Garlicky Beans and Beans

1/2 lb green beans, fresh, cut into three-inch (or so) pieces
4 cloves garlic
16 oz. kidney beans (Cannelinni beans)
2 oz lemon juice (1 lemon)
1 1/2 cups rotini, whole wheat
1 salt and pepper

Recipe Directions for Garlicky Beans and Beans

  1. Cut up 4 cloves of garlic in various ways ? the smaller the pieces, the garlickier the food. One or two minced, two sliced very thin, and one however you like will yield a good mix of sizes and heat.

  2. Get your pasta cooking.(Err on al dente side.)

  3. Heat 1 T olive oil over medium-low heat. Saute garlic until starting to get color.

  4. Add green beans, and toss. Saute over medium heat until they?re tasty and just about done. (10 min or so, but taste as you go.)

  5. 5) Toss in Cannellini beans, salting and peppering to taste. (The beans will take a lot of salt.)

  6. 6) Toss cooked pasta with 1 T olive oil, then mix in the bean & bean mixture and lemon juice, or serve the beans over the pasta. However you like.
