Recipe Ingredients for Garlic Mashed Potatoes

10 cloves (1 bulb) garlic
1 tsp olive oil
2 1/2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled, cut into 1/2" pieces
2/3 c half and half
5 T butter, cut into 5 pieces

Recipe Directions for Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Cut off tip of garlic bulb. Place garlic on large square of foil.

  3. Drizzle with oil and wrap foil around garlic to enclose.

  4. Bake garlic until soft, about 40 minutes. Cool.

  5. Cook potatoes in large pot of COLD water - adding salt once boiling, until tender, about 20 minutes.

  6. Drain, return potatoes to same pot.

  7. Add garlic (press cloves between fingertips to relase from skins), and mash together.

  8. Bring half and half to simmer in small saucepan. Add half and half and butter to potatoes; stir to blend.

  9. Season with salt and pepper.
