Totally an improv recipe that you can customize. It has a low amount of calories for how much food you get, and low sodium if you use frozen peas or canned peas with no salt added, and canned garbanzo beans with no salt added, or just cook up some dried beans like i do. ABOUT THE NOODLES. I use 1/3 (dry) barilla orzo noodles, but the recipe analyser couldn't recognize it. The point is to use noodles that equal a maximum of 200 calories. The 56g of elbow macaroni is what the analyser recognized and i'm sure they'd be fine in the soup too.

Recipe Ingredients for Garbanzo Veggie and Noodle Soup

56 g elbow macaroni
1/2 cup garbanzo beans (dry)
1/2 cup peas

Recipe Directions for Garbanzo Veggie and Noodle Soup

  1. Put 1/2 cup garbanzo beans into a strainer and wrinse them off. After they are wrinsed off, put them into a pan, maybe a sauce pan or larger with about 4 - 5 cups of water. Bring to a rapid boil and let them boil for 2 minutes. Turn the heat off then let them soak for 1 hour. Drain the soak water. Fill the pan again and bring the beans to a simmer. Let them simmer for 1.5-2 hrs, depending on how soft you want them.

  2. When the beans are ready, add the noodles and peas.

  3. Add your own seasonings; whatever you like.

  4. I add onion flakes, parsley, cumin, rosemary, thyme, garlic, and you might want to add salt, but I don't.

  6. chicken can be added without making it a huge calorie meal, one or two servings. just be sure to compensate for calories.

  7. if you're going to add chicken i suggest frozen chicken breast. boil and cook it in a seperate pan right from the freezer - it doesn't take that long. add the hot cooked chicken at the end or near the end.

  9. This recipe comes out with more calories than it might actually have. My beans say its 240 calories for a half cup, not 182. Usually my soup has 511 calories all together for the whole pot, 255 for half, 127 for a fourth.
