Recipe Ingredients for Gail's Delicious Granola

10 cups Quaker Oats
3/4 cup Flax Seed
1 cup Almonds
1 cup Cashews
1 cup Banana Chips
1 cup Coconut Flakes
1 stick Margarine
1/2 cup Maple Syrup
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Honey
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/4 cup Milk, 2%
1 cup Dried Blueberries
1 cup Montmorency Dried Tart Cherries

Recipe Directions for Gail's Delicious Granola

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Combine the first 6 ingredients into a large mixing bowl. I usually put the nuts and flax seed in a food processor for a minute or so to make them into smaller bits, but this is not necessary.

  3. Combine the next 6 ingredients into a small saucepan on medium heat. Stir until comes to a low boil. Remove from heat and slowly mix into the dry mix until fully coated.

  4. Spread granola onto 2-3 large cookie sheets. I typically place a Silpat on each sheet to make cleanup easier.

  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes. The granola should start to appear a little golden. If left in too long it may start to burn a little, so be sure to check as it gets close to 20 minutes.

  6. Remove from oven and stir to allow for even baking. I usually rotate my cookie sheets at this point too. Place back in oven for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

  7. Repeat previous step for another 15 minutes. Remove from oven again and stir. Add in the dried fruit into the mix while stirring.

  8. Lower heat to 225 degrees and place back into the oven for another 20 minutes.

  9. Remove from oven and let cool.
