Recipe Ingredients for Fudge Filled Oat Bars

1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups quick-cooking oats
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 tbsp butter
3 1/2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
14 oz sweetened condensed milk

Recipe Directions for Fudge Filled Oat Bars

  1. Heat oven to 350, beat butter and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir in oats, flour, baking soda, salt, 1 c walnuts. Mix with hands if neccessary.

  2. Remove 2 cups of mixture, set aside. Press remaining mixture onto the bottom of a jelly-roll pan. Prepare chocolate filling, and spread on top. Sprinkle on top with reserved mixture. Sprinkle walnuts on top and bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  3. Chocolate filling: melt butter on low heat. Add chocolate and melt together. Stir in sugar, sweetened condensed milk and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
