The literal translation in Italian means Fruit of the Sea from devil or hell (meaning it's HOT). I make mine milder than my grandfather did and put greens and carrots in it to up the potassium for my diet, but you don't have to.

Recipe Ingredients for Frutti De Mari Fra Diavolo (Hot Spicy Seafood Pasta Sauce)

14.5 oz Diced with Basil Garlic and Oregano Tomatoes
14 oz (Aqua Star) Seafood Mix
24 grams Garlic
1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions
1 tbsp Olive Oil
1 tbsp, ground Basil, Dried
1 tbsp Parsley, Dried
1 cup Fancy Field Greens
4 cup Spinach
1 tbsp Pepper, Red Or Cayenne
0.04 oz Safflower Seed Kernels, Dried
1 tsp Chili Sauce
1 oz Wine, Table, Red

Recipe Directions for Frutti De Mari Fra Diavolo (Hot Spicy Seafood Pasta Sauce)

  1. Cut up garlic and onion, preferably thin slices with the garlic.

  2. Heat olive oil in a pot and simmer them with basil and parsley.

  3. Add frozen Seafood Mix and carrots and cook for 7-8 minutes with lid on, stirring occasionally.

  4. Add tomatoes and tomato paste, simmer and stir for 5 minutes.

  5. Add safflower, red pepper, wine and chili sauce and simmer another 5 minutes.

  6. Add greens and stir for another 5 minutes.

  7. Serve over your favorite pasta.

  8. Buon appetito!
