steel cut oatmeal, long cooking.... so makes a lot for reheating

Recipe Ingredients for fruit and spice oatmeal

4 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups oats, steel cut
1 cup apple, cubed
1/2 cup dates, chopped
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoons ginger, ground
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for fruit and spice oatmeal

  1. boil water

  2. add oats

  3. simmer 15 minutes

  4. add all ingredients remaining

  5. simmer additional 15 minutes

  6. allow to cool, uncovered

  7. may need additional water added if too thick
