Recipe Ingredients for "Fried" Onion Strings

1 small onion
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
4 tbsp egg substitute
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 tsp olive oil

Recipe Directions for "Fried" Onion Strings

  1. Preheat oven to 400 deg.

  2. Spray pan lightly with non-stick cook spray.

  3. Cut small onion into 1/8 in. thick slices and seperate.

  4. Spoon breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into plastic bag.

  5. Pour egg into small bowl.

  6. Dip few rings in egg sub. and let excess drip away.

  7. Drop into baggie and coat rings with crumb mix.

  8. Drop rings back in egg and then again in crumbs.

  9. Shake off excess crumbs, then lay in single layer on pan.

  10. Lightly mist tops of rings with olive oil.

  11. Bake on lower oven rack for 5 min. then carefully turn over and continue cooking another 4-5 min. until crispy and onions are tender.
