Recipe Ingredients for Fresh Fig Cookies

1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening, butter flavored
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup chopped fresh figs
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Recipe Directions for Fresh Fig Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

  2. Cream sugar and shortening and add beaten egg.

  3. Sift dry ingredients and blend with creamed mixture.

  4. Add the figs and mix again to not have chuncks of fruit.

  5. If you like those chunks then just stir figs in.

  6. Fold in oatmeal and nuts.

  7. Drop by spoonfuls on greased sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. (until lt. brown on edges)
