Recipe Ingredients for French Onion Soup

1 1/2 pounds (6 cups) onions, thinly sliced
1/4 cup butter
4 cups beef broth, without salt
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
6 slices French bread, toasted, small, 32 grams
1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded

Recipe Directions for French Onion Soup

In a Dutch oven, cook onions in butter, covered, about 20 minutes until tender. Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to boiling. Sprinkle toasted bread with cheese and place under broiler until cheese is just browned. Serve the soup and float one toast on top of each bowl.
