Recipe Ingredients for French Onion Soup

30 oz Onions
4 tbsp Butter
1 tbsp Olive Oil
0.75 tsp Salt, Table
0.5 tsp Sugars, Granulated
8 cup Soup, Beef Broth Or Bouillon
0.2 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached
6 oz Wine, Table, White

Recipe Directions for French Onion Soup

  1. Heat pan and add 3T butter plus oil. Add thinly sliced onions and stir to coat. Caramelize onions (should take approx 1 hr).

  2. Add flour and stir while cooking on medium heat for 3 min. Add wine, stirring constantly.

  3. Add broth, 1 c at a time, stirring constantly. Add salt and ground pepper to taste. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 20-30 min.

  4. Serve with toasted baguette and a slice of (my fave) havarti cheese. Divine.
