lose 80 lbs in 4-5 months? dr. bernstein diet..

Alright, in my city, I have seen ads for this weight loss clinic on buses, and have been wondering a lot about it. I researched their website, but I haven't found much, other than you can lose a ton of weight without exercise.

I wanted to know if anybody had heard about it/used it and also if anybody had any idea what the cost was?

I have never heard of it but by the sounds of it and by looking on the website, I think it would be very hard on the body.  I can't help but be somewhat skeptical.

My recommendation is to make life style changes rather than look to the latest fad diet.  You would have far better success and less money invested.  If you substitute unhealthy habits for healthy ones, eventually it will pay off.  I would also recommend making the changes as you are ready to make them.  Otherwise, it may be like pounding a round peg in a square hole.

In my photo which was taken this past April, I was about 240 pounds.  I am now down to 204.  This was in a span of 5 months.  Here is what paid the biggest dividends for me:

1   I got rid of refined sugar in my diet.

2   I set my calorie limit to 500 less than what my body burns at a sedentary rate and adjust it about every other month.

3   I exercise regularly (weight lifting and tread mill)

4   I get 8 hours of sleep a night.

5   I eat a lot more raw vegetables (better nutrition)

The weight loss for me has been so easy, I wish I had done this years ago!  Mind you, I didn't make all these changes at once but they all paid off in their own little way.  Here is a good link with sound practical advice.  http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/hugo21.htm

i know nothing about that particular diet, but i do have a friend who is on a doctor   that has a history of fast (too fast in my opinion) weight loss. here are the negatives i've seen with her "diet":

only eats 800 calories a day and 95% of that is expensive food bought from the doctor

expensive bill from the doctor (you'd think they'd include some of the food)

their speciality food is in shake or pudding form, so if you like to chew your food your S.O.L

while they do have weekly meetings to help you learn a healthier life style it didn't help my friend, this is her second go around. (i've been tempted to offer her my diet plan for just half the cost of her current one. lol)

It looks just about exactly what I am doing... but it is called Slim 4 Life, and they are only in Minnesota and Colorado, but I have been doing it since 9/30, and in the past 2 weeks I am down 15 lbs. If it is like mine it is probably expensive, kinda rediculous. but it is working for me.... Basically I buy treats or things like soup mix, and eat it alone or with a meal. you do have suppliments and vitamins that you are suppose to take. Basically it does work, you just will probably have to follow a certain meal plan. My total goal with them is to loose 48 lbs by the time I go to Miami late November, and if I keep doing things right I will be close or to my goal in only 60 days... Check it out... Be ready to hand out a lot of money too, look at the website for mine, they look almost the exact same.... Same thing different name I think.    http://www.slim4life.com/
