I know this may end up turning some of your stomachs, so please overlook if you're like that.
I started out with 112 pounds I needed to lose to get to a healthy weight. Right now, I've lost 8 of those pounds. I'm worried that after losing all of this weight, I'll end up with gross looking loose skin.
My question is, is it possible to tighten up that skin through exercise? I currently exercise regularly and plan to continue to do that. Are there particular exercises that will tighten loosened skin? Will Circuit Training help with that? What about walking?
I'm losing weight in a healthy way. I average about 2 pounds a week and I've been at this for about a month now.

I am 42 years old, and have lost 61.6 pounds in 16 weeks, with another 100 or so to go (Lord willing!). So far, I really haven't noticed too much of a saggy skin problem ... but, then again, I still have plenty of flab to keep it filled! LOL! I am trying to stay really hydrated, I am taking Omega supplements which are supposed to be great for skin, and I regularly slather on a lot of moisturizer.
And I expect that should I have loose skin by the time I've finished, it will be hidden away under clothes.
I’ve been concerned with loose skin, too, so I was glad to see this topic. I’m 38, and I had 75-80 pounds to lose. I’ve lost 40 as of this morning. Back when I started, I researched it as much as I could, and come to the same conclusions as those who posted in this thread: lose slowly, drink a lot of water, get all the nutrients you need (including enough fat!) exercise, and moisturize moisturize moisturize. So far, I haven’t had any problem with loose skin. I lost the 40 slowly, no more than 5 pounds in any one month, many months, more like 3 or 4. Some months, I actually gained a few. It’s worked so far, and here’s to hoping it continues to work as I get even lower.
I agree there’s no way to guarantee no loose skin, and the chances of avoiding it go up as you age. Older skin has lost a lot of the elasticity it needs to adjust. All you can do is the best you can, and see what happens.
I think your not the only one out there, wondering what might happen to your skin after loseing weigth. But I believe our skin's elasticity with in time (yrs) will losen up. But as we lose weight we need to make sure we are doing it right. Drastic weight gain will give us stretch marks, so the best thing to do is to workout... lifting weights should be included in your weight lose to tone your body.
I love coming across the tall girls on this site! I'm 6'1" and I've lost almost 140 lbs now. I did have more to lose than you clearly but sadly I do have a bunch of loose skin. My weight loss was really fast at first though, my body seemed absolutely desperate to ditch that first 50 and it dropped off like nothing after just a few small changes so that probably did not help me AT ALL. I'll need to get surgery now but have to scrape up the money first. Ugh.
From what I've read it can take up to 2 years for your skin to shrink as much as it's going to shrink after weight loss so I have plenty of time to keep my eye on it while I wait at least.

I've been talking to a doctor friend of mine about this because I was worried that once I got to my "ideal weight" then got the tons of skin removed I'd be skeletal. He told me that skin is quite heavy as it's mostly connective tissue. I'm going to go for a consultation with a surgeon and how much this skin weighs is definitely going to be a question.
(I also see now that I am so close to my "ideal" that being skeletal won't be a problem for me)

I have lost 220 lbs and have also dealt with loose skin so let me give you some advice to your concerns about it.
The first thing I would say is to not treat this as a race to lose weight. If you are losing more then 2 lbs a week I recommend slowing down,eating a little more and getting it into that range.
If you lose the weight much faster then that then the body doesn't have time to fill the gaps left by your fat and the muscle doesn't have time to replace it either.
Light walking to lose weight also stimulates loose skin so I recommend either jogging or biking as a substitute.
There are exercises you can do to tighten your skin but you need to lose the weight first so don't concern yourself as much with this. Eat foods high in collagen and use creams around your midsection,arms and chest to reduce the scars from tearing skin.
I was 370 lbs and am currently 165 and let me be honest by saying that I do still have some loose skin (though its minor) It took me about 5 years to lose the weight and I have had 0 surgeries.
Diet + exercise (there are no magic pills) Just keep at it,document it and keep fighting for the life you really want to live :)
