Lemon water?

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone had any experience in drinking hot water with one lemon's juice squeezed in to it in the morning?  I've been hearing about this off and on for years (that it helps weight loss), but never actually found anyone that had experience with it.

Adding lemon to water helps it to hydrate your body faster.

I don't know that it helps weight-loss or not, but it's certainly healthier than coffee and many teas, especially when you think of the cleansing process, and our bodies being all clogged by toxins. I suppose if our colons are clean, and everything moves how it should, one might see a few pounds come off...

I love hot water with lemon. It's so refreshing/settles my stomach.
I personally don't see how hot water with lemon could help hydrate your body any faster or cleanse it.  It may not act as a diuretic as caffeinated drinks, but I don't know how it would help hydrate or cleanse.

a little bit of lemon wiht water is pretty refreshing... that's about it though.  as far as helping with hydration, your body can only absorb so much water at one time, and the only thing I know that affects hydration is the temperature of the water.

As long as you're not talking about some crazy concentration of lemon juice...

If you're talking about the lemonade diet... it's pure BS... drinking water will satiate hunger, and therefore you just won't eat...  drinking plenty of water will always help detox your system, that's why every nutrition specialist will tell you to drink lots of water.  nothing special about the lemon other than a good source of vitamin C.

I found this here: here is the link.. I also copy & pasted it for people who dont like using links:

Almost as cunningly simple in its title as ‚??green drink‚?? - lemon water is quite blindingly straightforward in its makeup: it is water with lemon squeezed in. Could it be any easier?

The beauty of lemon water is that it is tasty, refreshing and best of all, alkalising. The lemon juice raises the alkalinity of the water so even with standard tap water you can make your drink pH neutral.

However, for the full lemon water effect: distilled/ionised water with Alkalive‚??s pH booster (or Prime pH or another pH drop) and lemon creates the ultimate alkaline water. The trick however, is to have the water lukewarm. If the water is too hot or too cold then it will cause the body to expand energy in order to process it. Lukewarm water also has that comforting feeling to it‚?¶

I know a lot of you know about lemon water already, through reading/learning about alkalising or through Gillian McKeith (who also recommends lemon water on rising) - but it is always a good thing to reinforce the basics.

So What Are the Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water?

Apart from being an amazing body alkalizer/alkaliser, lemon water also gives the following health benefits:

  • Lemons are antiseptic
  • Lemon water has excellent digestive properties and can ease heartburn, bloating and other digestion problems
  • Lemon water cleanses and stimulates the liver and kidneys
  • Lemon juice contains calcium, magnesium and potassium
  • Lemon juice has been known to relieve asthma
  • Lemon water (hot) offers relief from cold and flu symptoms while providing some much needed Vitamin C
  • Lemon juice is a great skin cleanser
So if you do not do anything else - start every single day with a glass of lovely lemon water!

Honey in Lemon or Lime Water? Since we started blogging about the health benefits of lemon water I have received lots of questions from people wondering if it is ok to put a spoonful of honey into their lemon water to sweeten it up (as recommended on other websites and a few books). The short answer is no.

Honey is obviously sugar, and although ‚??natural‚?? - the effect on the body is the detrimental whether sugar is natural or not.
i've been drinking this for years when i've had a cold...my great-grandmother swore to it, and she lived to be 94, and walked 3 miles every day (including the day she died)...it definitely can't harm you!

Thanks to you 'loosingthepounds' for providing the info to what I'd been trying to state in laymans terms. :)
I suppose starting the day with a glass of lemon water could be beneficial and refreshing.  I went to a health spa for a few days last winter and they were very fond of drinking not just lemon water but basil water, mint water, rosemary water, fennel water, parsley water, rose water, and all kinds of other water. They recommended adding a variety of fresh, bruised herbs to your water to get added benefits.
I have to say I really enjoyed the basil water and the mint water. It's simple enough to do and tastes good.
If you put some lemon juice in tea, do you think it would have the same effects?
Your welcome...... Just google your questions..... People seem to think Im a "WEALTH" of information... LOL...... I just have TOO MUCH TIME to GOOGLE THINGS !!!! Thats why I get paid for sitting at a DESK 10 hours a day.... I wish I got piad to WORK OUT 10 hours a day... I'd be thin & Rich LOL!!!!
Loosing the Pounds: I prefer lime water. I know it sounds strange, but I really like it. Any potential benefits there? Am I harming myself in any way?
