120 for me

I'm only 5'2, but a size 4, and I'm 122 pounds.

I was always wondering how I will look like if I wear a size 4. do you think being 120 at 5'3" is too skinny??

im about 125 and im a size 4 and 5'3", at 135 im guessing I would be closer to an 8

All of you sound just perfect--are you happy with where you are??

 Thank you! :D

And yes, I'm happy. My goal weight is 119, but as of now I'm only losing about half a pound a week and I'm fine with that. :-) And I'm definitely fine with a size 3/4.

At 135 I was around an 8...about a 6 at 129-130, and now a 4 at about 122.

I am 5'4" 122 and wear anywhere from size 4 to 7, depending on the brand. I actually have two pair of jeans that are a size 9 and the fit like a size 4 in other brands.

If your talking about vintage clothes (pre 1980) a size 4 would be more like a size 10-12. In the 80's I believe a size 4 was more like a size 7 or 8.

Current sizes usually depend on junior, miss, and womens. Womens clothing size numbers tend to be smaller that junior or miss. A size 8 in Juniors could be a size 6 in womens.

The best way to gauge clothing size is if a size you are wearing is getting tight or loose. Go for what looks good on you and not the number. Otherwise you could be sporting some unflattering fashion for your body.

I'm 5'3" and wear a size 4/6 pants at 150lbs...weird.

thanks ladies. I am 176 and 5'3" :((( I wanted to buy a new dress so I can motivate myself to lose. I was between size 4 or 6 or 8. I think size 4 is not reasonable this summer since it is 125.

What do you guys think?

Are you top heavy? Or maybe muscular? I'm a pear shape and my starting weight was 150lbs, and I was a size 10-12. Just goes to show that everyone's different!

Safina, it's hard to say what would be reasonable because as you can see (since bkadorable can wear a 4/6 at 150, while for me, and a couple of others in this thread, it was 120-125).

My suggestion would be to get one size smaller than your current size. Try on a dress--if it fits in a 10, buy it in an 8. That'll motivate you without making it seem like an impossible task. You can also more easily chart your progress and how much closer you are to fitting into that dress. When you fit into the 8, buy something else into a 6. I've found that buying something TOO much smaller just ends up being depressing.

I'm not in the same height or weight (I'm 5"5 147, going back down to 145-140 which put me in a size4) But I'd suggest you get a size 6 dress, if you only go down one size you may not see the change as much, 2 sizes definitely a big diff.

Are you on about American size fours?

In UK sizes i'm an 8 and i'm 5ft3 and 122lb.

Yeah, in my case at least I'm referring to an American size 4. :-)

Thanks so much ladies. :) I am size 10. I am crazy about an expensive dress that I like very much but I don't want to buy it then throw it away after a while. 122 seems very hard to achieve in the summer LOL it is a big jump from 170.

I wear size 4 dresses, but I'm 5'8 and 135 pounds, so for someone 5'3 it might be less than that.

im 5'4" but ive been a size 4 when i was like 130 and still when i was 105. im now 117

i wear size 2 or 4 dresses, and i weigh 105.

it really depends on your measurements, though.
for example, i know a girl who weighs 105 and is 5'3" as well, but she wears a size 8 dress since she has wide hips.

I'm currently 129, 5'1", and I wear a size 4 in dresses.  But in pants I wear anything from a 4 to a 9 depending on the brand.  To get to a solid 4 in most brands of pants, though, I usually have to be around 120 or so.
