I've gained 15 pounds, but my clothes actually are looser

Since September, I have gained 15 pounds.

That is kind of an issue, due to the fact that i've gained weight. (From 2007 to then i had lost close to 70 pounds and kept it off)

But something weird happened. Instead of my clothes being tighter, they actually fit a lot better and are looser.

Any explanations for this? i just was wanting some input because i wonder what's going on.

There are a bunch of different explanations depending on the circumstances.  What are your stats?  Age/weight/height?

19, right now 200, and 6'0"

Actually, since the beginning of January i've  been going between 195 and 200. So yeah. all my clothes still fit and it's confusing.

At your age, you're still growing.  I don't know if you've gained any height recently, but that could be part of it.  But I'm willing to bet that a good deal of that 15 pounds is bone mass (at your age, your bones should be getting denser).  Plus, you've probably gained a bit of muscle (as a 19 year old male should).  And during all of this, you've probably lost some fat, which is why your clothes fit better.  All in all, very good things.

Really, weight loss in growing teenagers is an entirely different process than weight loss in adults.  It's unfortunate that almost all of the information out there is designed for adults.  The scale is a terrible measure of progress for everyone really, but especially for teenagers.  Don't put too much stock in it.  Take your measurements and judge by how your clothes fit.  As far as I can tell, you're doing great.

Same happened to me! I'm 18 and I've gained about 10 lbs and my clothes fit the same. I hate this new weight though, so I'm going to try and lose a little.

IT'S JUST A NUMBER!  No one else sees it except maybe your doctor.  If you look the same, and your clothes fit the same, and you like how you look, and you're at a healthy weight, why in the world would you try to lose weight?  Scales are inherently stupid.  They don't know what's going on in your body.  While you are legally an adult, your body is still growing and developing on the inside.  Since you can't see the difference, most of that weight is probably bone mass.  Bone mass is a good thing.  It will keep you from breaking a hip after you hit menopause.

You've probably gained muscle weight. Below is a response I made to a similar post a few weeks ago. I think it applies to your post in a way.

"Human muscle weighs more than fat cells given the same volume. If u're exercising (...or not), u're building muscle as well as losing fat, therefore as u lose fat-weight u put on some muscle-weight, and less fat means fewer inches.

Try to picture how much a liter of fat and a liter of muscle, would each weigh. Muscle density is 1.06 g/ml and fat density is (about) 0.9 g/ml. Thus, one liter of muscle would weight 1.06 kg and one liter of fat would weight 0.9 kg. In other words, muscle is about 18% denser than fat. This can be comparable to What's heavier: 1kg of cotton or 1kg iron? They weight the same, but 1kg of cotton has a higher volume than 1kg of iron. So u're losing considerable inches (volume) even though that doesn't translate in a incredible amount of weight."
