Girls 5ft 3inchs and under ‚?? what is your calorie intake?

Quote  |  Reply
I‚??m not really sure how many calories I should be having. I‚??m 5ft 0inches (bummer ‚?? I know!) and currently eat 1200 calories a day. I exercise around 5/6 times a week and probably burn around 200-500 calories per session. During weekends I up my calorie intake and eat around 1800 calories. So, just out of curiosity‚?¶

o        How tall are you?

o        What is your calorie intake?

o        Do you increase your calorie intake if you exercise?

I'm almost 5'3, I eat 1100-1300 a day usually. I pretty much just eat the same if I'm exercising, unless I get hungry.

I'm between 5'2 and 5'3. I got to 154 and now im 140 by aiming for 1500 but actually averaging closer to 1550 except.... i weighed at 154 at home, got down to about 147 then moved gyms and started using their scales, saturday i weighed in at 138 there but then i went home and weighed sunday at 144! So i might not be doing as well as i thought :(
im 5'0" and i eat about 400-800 calories a day. (Im in recovery from Anorexia and bulimia, thats why my intake is so low) i usually do not increase my intake when i exercise, unless its a day im boxing, then only to about 1000
I've tried staying around 1300 +/- since I starte this in July.  So far, I'm down about 15 calories.  Today I am SOOO hungry and can't wait until supper...........

I'm about 5'3'' and I eat 1000-1300 calories per day,but I try to stay above 1200 and zig-zag.When I exercise,I up my calorie intake by like 100-200.I try to exercise every other day,but I started just last week and been feeling sooo sore .:p

I'm 5' 3'', and I try to stay somewhere btw 1200 - 1300 calories whether I exercise or not. I feel weird if I have over 1300, even though CC says I should have 1554 daily, but I'm not sure if the number they give you is to maintain or to lose? I try to make my deficit as high as possible w/ out going under 1200. I alternate my workout days too. Every other day I do 1 of 2 Tae-Bo tapes that I have (41-44 minutes); and on the opposite days I try to do at least 1/2 hour on my Ab Lounge Ultra. This way I don't get bored with my routine, and the days I do Tae-Bo, I try to squeeze in 10-15 minutes on the ab lounge to warm up before hand. I've been doing this 4 weeks this morning, and I've lost 7 pounds! :)

I'm 5'1'' and I eat 1800-2100 calories a day!!

Im 5 foot even, but cant really say I count my calories. I just try to eat healthy, like fruits, veggies, plenty of water, lentils, etc. I also dont worry about how many cals Im burning while Im working out. I love the feeling I get from working out, even if I dont lose much. I want to lose some more weight, but I dont want to obsess either. Its worked for me so far, Ive lost 9lbs in 4 weeks.

I'm 22, 5'3, 130lbs.

Eat an average of 1600-1700 cals/day.

Trying out a cycle of 1466 cals/3 days, 2095 cals/1 day...

I am currently a little injured, but make it to the gym for yoga 3-4x/week and for upper body lifting 2x a week..

Usually I'm at the gym 6 days a week for a minimum of 1 hour, max of 3 hours.

I do eat more the harder I work out.

I'm 5'3" and 115 pounds, give or take a couple depending on the time of the month.  I generally stick to anywhere between 1000-1300 calories a day.  I exercise everyday, so my calorie intake doesn't fluctuate unless I go out to a large dinner or something, but even then, not so much.

I'm also 5' 3'', and I try to stay somewhere btw 1100 - 1200 calories most days.  I do 15 min of HIIT every day, and alternate a little strength training or mat exercises in the evenings.

Once a week i have a cheat day of 1500-1600.

I'm 42 with sedentary job so i've been losing about 3lb a month like this. Smile (130lb now)

um this is werid im 5ft and 105lbs i wanna be 95 lbs again but i gained alot from bingeing. i use to be good on 800-1000 calories a day and lost weight now im eating 1200 calories and bingeing again grrrr >=( so im oviously not loseing nothing and im still 105lbs and so not happy >=( ive binged today so i carnt do anythink now but i need to start tomorrow at 800-1000 again
5'3", 166 and a college student. Because of classes and having the recreation center close, I get to either work out daily or just move around a lot going to and from classes.
So my intake as of right now is 1350-1500 calories. 1200 if I'm being all sedentary during the day.

Poor pitiful me! I'm only 4'9" and I'm 54 years old... a combo that doesn't allow for many calories. Nevertheless, I've been losing weight steadily at 1200, occasionally going above by 100 or even 200 calories... I exercise (eliptical, rowing machine, water aerobics) about 4-5 times a week. I have had occasional days below 1200, but not many... I get too hungry.

And, you didn't ask, but just as an aside, I often save 200 of those calories for Edy's slow churned ice cream at night. So, even though I'm a shrimp, I've gone from 143 to 117 (26 pounds) in 4.5 months, eating ice cream all the way!

And I did have a bit of a plateau about 6 weeks ago, but blew through it by sticking with the program. I'd like to lose another 10 - 13 pounds, but have no idea how I'll maintain, as the calorie line between weight loss and weight gain seems pretty narrow for me.

Hi ohallyjo,

I see that you are fairly new so welcome to CC.  Smile  I am happy to hear that you are currently in the recovery process and we are here to help you through it.

But did you know that while 400-800 calories may be an increase in what you were previously taking in that is not enough for your organs to function properly.  Your body needs at least 1200 calories per day and even more on your active days.  Are you currently under the supervision of a doctor?  If not, then the best advice I can give is to consult one so that they can help you through the recovery process.

Here are a couple of good links on recovery strategy:

    I just saw this post.

I'm not going to tell you to stop losing weight. 5 feet and 95 lbs. is an acceptable weight, however, I will strongly suggest that you confirm with your doctor before eating so few calories. MOST women need at LEAST 1200 calories a day to make sure your body is working at peak efficiency. More if you're heavier. If you eat less than that, than over time your metabolism slows down to match it.

I highly suggest you talk to a doctor or nutritionist and get a professional take. I do recognize you're both short and thin, but 800-1000 calories does not really sound, to my unprofessional ears, like enough.

I'm 5' 0.5" and I eat anywhere between 900-1200. Sometimes higher when I drink wine or other drinks. It has been 4 months now and my blood test results are all normal. I lose steadily since 7 months. I started at 153.5 and now at 122.4. I plan to reach 120 and decide if I want to continue losing weight or begin to maintain. We'll see.

I feel great, never been sick in 4 years. I eat whole-wheat, whole-grain, chicken, turkey, fish, lots of vegetables (8-10 servings a day) and some fruits. I also sometimes replace meat with tofu and beans. I eat as unprocessed as possible. I have no appetite for bad food at all and I'm happy about it! When I go to a restaurent, which is very rare, it's either Subway no cheese no dressings or if it's another restaurant I usually get a chicken salad.

I don't excercise a lot but I'm active around the house. I have good genetics on that, always had a hearth rate of 50-65 when I rest.
I'm 5'3" (well..5'3.5" but only when I don't slouch :P). I eat anywhere between 1200-1500 calories a day, dependin on if I exercise or not. My maintenance calories are 1700/day, so 1200 on days I don't exercise and I adjust upwards when I exercise, depending on my burn. My loss has been slow since I've not hit the gym as much as I should, but I'm ok with slow. :)
    I'm 5'2" - started at 164, currently at 139, working towards 127.

I get 1300-1600 daily with spikes up to 2300 every so often when I'm having a bit too much fun :)

    I don't exercise :)
Wow are you all thin!  I reached my goal this last week of 155, and I am 5'2" tall.  I do have a large frame though, and I also don't think I could realistically lose fifty more pounds, let alone keep it off!  But all justification aside, I lost my 23 lbs by eating on average, between 1200-1400.  In reality, I am sendentary, even though I occasionally work out (do really well for a week, fall off the wagon, go ten days quit for a week...).  I have no idea what it will take to maintain...the tools tell me 1700.  I splurged for three days straight after hitting my goal, gained three pounds and have dropped two in the week or so since.
