I'm a little confused as to the amount of calories I should be eating. I am currently eating between 1300-1500 calories a day. I'm 22, 5'8", female, and currently weigh 214. I've lost 6 pounds in eleven days eating 1300-1500 calories a day. I've been exercising (walking, yoga) for at least 30 minutes a day, sometimes more. I have to walk up and down a lot of stairs at school in between classes, but other than that and the exercise I do, I don't move very much. I don't feel hungry or deprived, but mostly I think that's because I'm getting the bulk of my calories from raw vegetables, so that's a high volume of food. I've been reading through some forum posts, and I've seen people recommending to others who have similar stats as me that they should be eating more calories, so I was a little worried that maybe I'm not eating enough.
If you go to tools on this website and go to calorie target, it will ask you your height weight etc. and calculate exactly what you should be eating. It even tells you when you will meet your goal weight! I follow my calorie target to a T and it works. Try it!
You seem to be eating well below your BMR (basal metabolic rate) which is just for basic body functions and doesn't count other activity.
You can eat more and still lose weight.

Rckgrl, I tried the calculator from your link, and it says my BMR is 1,926 calories. Should I be eating that many calories? That seems like an awful lot.
As you lose weight your BMR reduces, I am the same height as you 5'8", 27 but weigh 154lbs and my BMR is around 1518 I believe and when I reach my goal weight, I'll be around 1457BMR. Hope this helps :)
