Hey everyone! I'm a vegan, and I just feel like I've gotten really off-track and been eating a lot of crap lately. I'm considering doing a raw cleanse for a week just to get myself back on track. Anyone ever done this before? Any tips or thoughts?
If you do decided to do this, make sure its no longer than a a week. I find 3 days works well, then slowly incorporate back in cooked whole foods. I will suggest careful planning of meals and activities so you stay within your caloric range for the day... as you might feel lightheaded and even sick.
I just completed a raw cleanse last week and feel wonderful. I did three days with fresh fruit juices and fresh vegetable juices only. The ratio I did was 65% vegetable juices and 35% fruit. 2 days prior I only ate raw fruits and vegetables with unsalted nuts as snacks and the same thing after I was finished the juice cleanse. I was surprisingly not hungry during the cleanse after day 1 was completed. I had a 6 juices each day as well as at least 10 glasses of purified water. I spaced the juices 2 hours apart with the water in between.
You probably alread know this but you must use only fresh juices. Nothing canned or concentrated, nothing but juice you extracted from the whole product yourself. No sugar or artificial sweeteners of any sort but if you decide to prepare a lemonade juice with ginger, mint, etc, you can use a small amount of organic maple syrup to sweeten it, no more than say 2 tablespoons.
I didn't feel sick during the fast but day one was a little difficult for me and I did feel somewhat spacey. It went away by the second day though. I tried to calculate how many calories I was consuming during the fast and the best rough estimate I came up with was 1100 per day.
I started my weight loss with a 4 day cleanse. Mine consisted on all fruits and vegies, and water. I felt hungry and light headed for the first day, better the second day, and 3 and 4 were fine. Then, I added about 2-3 ounces of chicken (or any protein) for the next 10 days.
I started my journey 5/29/2010 and have lost 17.1 so far!
Why not just eliminate the crap and eat a normal, healthy diet?
