Just ate lunch but I'm still hungry!!!

Quote  |  Reply

I'm wondering if it's me or I'm not eating right/enough but I just had what I considered a big lunch at noon and it's 1:30 now and I feel hungry again!

Here is what I had:

Laughing Cow Swiss Cheese Wedge spread onto 2 Ryvita Crackers

1/2 Chicken Breast

1/2 Cup boiled squash

1.5 Cups of letter w/ balsamic viniger dressing

It is not such a big lunch, but I understand that it could be a big lunch for you.

Do you generally eat even less?

Although I eat more than you, sometimes I also have days when I can eat and eat and eat. May be you should just give yourself a break and eat at your maintenance for a day.

Drink plenty of water. Sometimes the body mistakes hunger for thirst.

Are you drinking enough water? I know I often mistake thirst for hunger. Try drinking a glass of water or herbal tea and see if that helps.

I'm eating about 1500-1800 cals a day so I'm definitely getting enough I think I just need to

Re-Adjust when I’m eating certain things here is an idea my meal plans:

1 cup 1% milk

1 Package Weight Control Oatmeal

1 Fruit

Morning Snack:

Salad w/ balsamic viniger

Some type of protein

Laughing Cow Light Cheese wedge w/ 2 Ryvita Cracks

Afternoon Snack:

Veggies & Dip

Some type of meat

Some type of Starch; potatoe, sweet potatoe, Brown Rice

Dessert: Some Type of sweet fruit, Banana, Grapes etc.

I’m 5’10” 176lbs looking to lose about 25-30lbs

Oh and I’m drinking water like it’s going out of style! Already on my 9th Glass of the day. I’m wondering if maybe it’s just cravings from eating so badly for so long?

Up the number of cups of veggies in your salad.

Munch on things like snap peas. Basically eat fiber containg low cal foods.

I would replace the cheese and crackers with a light yogurt and a larger serving of veggies. 1.5 cups is not a verry large salad you can up that to a 3 or 4 or 5 cup salad with the same amount of dressing for almost nil calories (probably less then 1 of your crackers

IMO..I would eat more protein, ditch the potato starch and crackers and for a substitution nuts, avocado, a full fat yogurt, CC or salad dressing for those starches calories...

Is there something you want but are not eating?...look for a healthy substitute..

If I crave chocolate or ice I have frozen blended banana as an ice cream substitute...(put 1/2 cup milk and one cup frozen banana in blender a whirl until can add other fruit, flavorings or even chocolate chips...yummm)

and I either eat a bite of chocolate to fit in my calorie plan or eat chocolate flavored nut butter (I like Justin's brand)

Or whatever you are craving....there are ways to satisfy the cravings...but if you are hungry eat...just eat wisely...

Starches make me hungry I find I cannot even have oatmeal for breakfast with out adding and egg on the side or other protein source...

If you are restless and not physically hungry chew gum and drink water or have a cup of tea...

You have almost none! It will make a huge difference, and it will help with cravings.  Can you add an egg to your breakfast? Only 70 cals! Dare I say whole milk around here? ;-)  I use heavy cream in my coffee! (from pastured cows, of course).

How about some olive oil, olives, or avocado in your salad? Or have some fatty fish in your salad as your protein?

What do you have for fat at dinner? Are you eating any fattier meats?  Do you use butter/oil on your veg or taters? It's so important because it lowers the insulin impact of your food, which will help to control your blood sugar swings (and in turn help with feeling "hungry", which in your case might just be low blood sugar).

I upped my fat considerably this new year (after struggling to maintain at a comfortable weight for the last several years), and I've lost 8 pounds!  Fat is so important and I think our culture inadvertently eats so much less than we should! 06/saturated-fat/ portance-of-saturated-fats-for-biological-fun ctions

Good luck and don't be afraid of fat!
