Important Update: Calorie Count will be shutting down on March 15th. Please click here to read the announcement. Data export is available.
I have just joined calorie count today and i am looking forward to some inputs from all the people who have benefited from it. I am 5 feet 3 inches tall person and have lost around 20kgs in past one year. Result I have lose skin in arms, tummy and thighs and loads of stretch marks. I am still continuing my exercise program of cardio and strength training. I control my diet intake too.
I consulted a dermat and he told me that nothing can be done about the lose skin and the only choice I have is to go for cosmetic surgery. I am just 26 years old and don't want to take up any surgery but, want to be fit by natural method. I would like to know what should I do more to get firmer arms, thighs and tummy.
Well, first of all -- welcome to Calorie Count, always room for more :)
As far as the loose skin goes -- well, your doctor may be right to some extent however since you are young and your weight loss is still fairly recent, you might be better suited to spending a year doing cardio and strength exercises to build and define the muscles under the skin. Not only will this give the skin's natural elasticity time to react to your weight loss, it will also provide stabilizing muscle for the skin to "grasp".
That's not to say that you won't be left with any loose skin -- so many things affect this -- genetics, age, speed of weight gain, speed of weight loss, length of time at highest weight, condition of skin. But before you go under the knife, you should try other methods first.
