wheelchair bound and trying to lose weight.

Hey, so I'm 24 years old and about 5'0 and 115lbs. I'm trying to lose about 15lbs just so I will be easier to be lifted by caregivers. I limit my self to a max of 800 calories a day because I'm wheelchair bound and working out doesn't really help Advice? Suggestions?

Hey =)

Your post sounds really disordered.  You shouldn't be looking to loose weight! Your caregivers are more than able to life manage, and it is just an excuse you are using to justify starving yourself.  And 800 calories is way to low, regardless of wether you are in a wheel chair or not.  Please seek some help!

Libby =)

800 calories will defiantly result in short term weight loss then bam! Long term gain. You'll gain tonnes! Eat low carb. Moderate fat and 1300-1500 cals
pollyalice85, low carb isn't the only way to lose weight. You shouldn't be recommending that this women eat " ___ amount " and eat low carb. I say, see should go to the doctor.

So please go to the doctor and ask? I'm sure he/she will be able to tell you the correct calories you should be consuming and if you should even lose weight. (:

I'm sure an extra 15 lbs isn't that much on your caregivers. Rather than doing low carb diet, I try to go for low glycemic index diet. So basicallly I cut out as much junk food as possible, try not to eat out, eat tons of fruits for snack. LOL I haven't touched potato chips in years nor have I touched soda. I'm around the same weight as you are but 5'7" probably have a much smaller frame than you. Caloric intake is just under 2000 kcal a day. I guess losing 15 lbs wouldn't hurt, but you're already at a healthy weight.

If you really want to lose weight, you need to talk to your doctor about it. They can give you a breath test to find out your RMR or Resting Metabolic Rate. Since you are so petite and inactive you will find out exactly how many calories you burn in a day. VLCD or very low calorie diets can damage your organs and must be supervised by a medical doctor. Good luck!
