I have a bad taste in my mouth. No really, I do. I have been eating great. The analysis tool has given me a grade of a B+ overall and I stay away from fast or overprocessed foods. I eat between 1350 and 1800 calories a day. I work out 5 times a week and burn up to 500 calories each workout. I take a daily vitamin and don't drink or smoke or do drugs.
Its that taste you get in your mouth when your coming down with a cold but I have had it for about 2 weeks and no cold. I don't know what to do.
Am I eating something that would cause this. Too many Carbs, maybe? I don't know. Someone please help.
Or am I a lone freak on this one?
I am not sure what you are eating that causes it, but I have had it in the past too. What made it go away for me is to use Therabreath Toothpaste and Mouthwash. You can find it at Walgreens or CVS. You can also find it online. http://www.therabreath.com. It is a little pricey, but if you've had it this long, you're probably ready to do something to get rid of it. I hope this helps, good luck!

Spilling ketones/ketoacidosis due to not eating enough for energy output? I don't know what your energy requirements are, but "bad" breath/odd breath is an accompanying symptom.
My energy output depends on the day. The more I do I usually compensate by eating a little more. My workout days I eat around 1650 to 1800 cals and burn 500 in my workouts. The other two days that I rest i usually just eat around 1350 to 1450 cals.
Is that enough? I think sometimes it is too many calories but I want to lose weight right this time only about 1 to 2 pounds per week. I have lost 6 pounds and I am right on track.
How do i check my ketones?
Low carb diet can lead to higher ketone output and this is said to cause bad breath in some. You can measure your ketones using these test strips that you get at the pharmacy.
I've had that many times over the years, too.
-an untreated sinus infection can cause a really bad taste.
-using poor quality metal silverware or cooking with metal utensils/pans that are old and flaky can sometimes give that taste, too. But, using my mother's expensive silver plated silverware also gives me a problem. Good quality stainless steel is best; if you are really sensitive, try plastic forks for a little while.
-I once read that an overabundance of a certain trace element in the diet could cause it - but I'm sorry to say, I can't remember what the element was-although I think it started with the letter "m". I do remember that it was very unlikely to have too much of it.
I usually drink strong flavored drinks - like really sour lemonade, and chew gum, eat peppermints, until it slowly subsides.
I would bet it is ketosis caused by a diet too low in carbohydrates. This often results in bad breath... eat some more carbs!!!
