Puneri breakfast. - made with phulka instead of poli, to reduce the fat content

Recipe Ingredients for Fodni Chi Poli

2 tbsp wheat flour
1/2 cup water
1/4 tsp sunflower oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/6 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chili powder

Recipe Directions for Fodni Chi Poli

  1. To make the phulkas:

  2. Mix flour and water.Knead.Last add oil.Knead some more.Make small balls and roll into round chapati.Roast on a pan till done on both sides. Then place the chapati on the burner and it puffs up. Roast this way from both sides.

  3. To make the Fodni chi poli:

  4. Keep the phulkas overnight. The next day during breakfast, crush them with your hand into crumbs. Add turmeric, chili powder and salt to it and mix well. Heat oil in a pan and allow mustard seeds to splutter in it. Then add the phulka crumbs and mix well. Sprinkle some water and let it cook for 5 minutes. As this is somewhat of a dry dish serve with skim milk.
