Some thicker, sort of puffy tortillas made from flour.

Recipe Ingredients for Flour Tortillas

2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 cup lard
1/8 cup butter
3/4 cup water

Recipe Directions for Flour Tortillas

  1. Put all ingredients except water in a mixing bowl.

  2. Use pastry cutter to blend the flour mixture with the fat.

  3. After well-blended, mix in water to form a dough. Knead the dough lightly.

  4. Form the dough into about eight disc-shapes.

  5. Heat a griddle on high. Roll out each disc of dough flat until a little larger than the tortilla will be.

  6. Cook each side on the griddle for about a minute, or until dark brown spots form and the dough forms bubbles.

  7. If using for a meal, store freshly-made tortillas in a towel to keep warm and moist.
