Italian butter free cookie It is chewy and crunchy at the same time :) (I like the extra chocolate, but you don't have to put that much)

Recipe Ingredients for Florentines

16 ounces almonds
2 ounce jam
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup almond meal
150 grams dark chocolate

Recipe Directions for Florentines

  1. roast almonds (350 deg F for 8-10 minutes)

  2. in a saucepan on low heat, mix sugar and maple syrup until the sugar is melted

  3. Add the roasted nuts and mix. Add the almond meal in the mix. Place on parchment paper in small portions

  4. bake the mix at 350 deg. until color is golden (takes about 5-12 minutes )

  5. Add the chocolate coating at the end (if desired)

  6. Can replace almonds with walnuts

  7. Advice: use a jam that is not too liquid.
