The dish is similar to shepard's pie except it is made with fish in a white sauce.

Recipe Ingredients for Fish pie

2 fillet Rockfish, Pacific, Mixed Species
0.75 cup, chopped Onions
1 cup, chopped Carrots
0.75 cup Fresh Frozen Select Vegetables Sweet Garden Peas
4 potato large (3" to 4-1/4" dia) Potatoes, Red, Flesh And Skin
1 tbsp Butter
1.5 1tsp Olive Oil
0.75 oz Enriched Unbleached White Flour
0.5 cup Chicken Broth
2 cup Milk, Lowfat, Fluid, 1% Milkfat

Recipe Directions for Fish pie

  1. On a cookie sheet lay out two large rockfish or other mild white fish fillets, salt and pepper fillets and bake on 350 for about 25 minutes.

  2. Finely dice onions and carrots and sweat in a sauce pan with 1 tbsp of butter and the oil and season with salt and pepper.

  3. when carrots are nearly cooked add flour, stir well and cook for about 5 minutes.

  4. Add milk and bring to a low boil until the sauce thickens

  5. Add peas

  6. Flake fish into sauce and mix to combine. Salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Boil potatoes in salted water.

  8. When cooked through, mash potatoes with chicken broth.

  9. Pour fish and vegetable pie filling into an 8" square baking dish and cover the top with the mashed potatoes. Broil for approximately 10 minutes until the potatos are golden brown

  10. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
