Picadillo is a dish mainly consisting of ground beef typically found in Cuba, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. In Mexico it is sometimes used as a filling, such as for tacos, and can be mixed with vegetables.

Recipe Ingredients for Filipino Picadillo

1 serving ( 3 oz ) Beef, Ground, 85% Lean Meat / 15% Fat, Crumbles
1 large (3" to 4-1/4" dia.) Potatoes, Boiled
1 cup slices Carrots
3 cup, shredded or chopped Lettuce, Iceberg
5 cup (8 fl oz) Water
1 small Onions
2 tbsp Oil, Vegetable Corn, Salad Or Cooking

Recipe Directions for Filipino Picadillo

  1. Heat oil in a casserole or large saucepan and saute onion until transparent, 1 to 2 minutes.

  2. Add garlic and saute until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  3. Stir in minced beef and cook until brown.

  4. Pour in stock or water and bring to the boil then simmer over medium heat.

  5. Add diced potatoes and carrots and simmer until potatoes and carrots are tender, about 10 minutes.

  6. Stir in spinach leaves if desired and heat through.

  7. Season with patis, salt and pepper.
