Recipe Ingredients for Felafel

1 1/2 cups chick peas, canned, drained
1/2 large onion
4 cloves garlic
2 teaspoon cumin
4 slices whole wheat bread
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
2 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Recipe Directions for Felafel

  1. Blend everything but the parsley and flour in food processor or with hand mixer until smooth. Stir in parsley.

  2. Form into 1-in. balls, then flatten somewhat and coat with flour.

  3. Bake on greased baking sheet at 450F for 10 minutes, turn, and bake another 10 minutes.

  4. Alternatively, you can fry the felafel in oil until brown.

  5. Notes: I like felafel dipped into hummus or baba ganouj, but they're also terrific in a sandwich.
