I found this recipe on Cooks.com and modified it slightly. I changed it to rolls instead of loaves, increased the fat slightly and changed it to packets of yeast instead of cakes.

Recipe Ingredients for Favorite Homemade Rolls

1 package yeast
1/3 cup warm water
1 cup whole milk
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. butter
4 cups flour

Recipe Directions for Favorite Homemade Rolls

  1. Put yeast in bowl with 1-1/2 cups flour, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon salt.

  2. In a pan, heat 1/3 cup warm water, 1 cups whole milk and 3 tablespoons butter until good and warm.

  3. Add warm liquids to dry mixture and beat with electric mixer for 4 minutes.

  4. Gradually add remaining flour. It may require more or less than 4 cups. Add enough so the dough is a proper consistency.

  5. Cover bowl and let dough rise until doubled. (About 30-40 minutes.)

  6. Beat dough down and kneed for 1 minute.

  7. Divide into 8 rolls and brush tops with butter and/or egg wash.

  8. Bake at 375 degrees for about 30 to 40 minutes or until a nice golden brown.
