spicy and sour chicken soup with fresh cabbage and cilantro on top.

Recipe Ingredients for favorite chicken soup

3 cups chicken
6 cups water
3 carrots
1 onion
3 celery stalks
3 cups hominy
1/2 cup lime juice
4 garlic cloves
2 tbsp Cayenne powder
3 cups cabbage
1 cup cilantro
1 cup tomatoes

Recipe Directions for favorite chicken soup

  1. Put chicken in 6 cups water and boil for 45 minutes or until meat is falling off the bone.

  2. Remove chicken and set aside.

  3. Add 3 chopped carrots, 1 med chopped onion, 4 cloves garlic and 2 tbsp cayenne pepper to the broth and cook for 15 minutes at medium heat.

  4. While veggies are cooking take the chicken off the bone and shred.

  5. Add 1 can hominy, 1 can stewed tomatoes, 3 stalks of celery and shredded chicken cook for 5 minutes

  6. Turn off soup and add the juice of 3-4 limes

  7. Chop up 1/3 head green cabbage in very thin slices.

  8. Chop a full head of cilantro

  9. Serve soup with the fresh cabbage and cilantro on top
