Recipe Ingredients for fasouliya-low sodium

2 cups pinto beans
1 medium onion
1/2 tsp Ginger Root
1 tsp Garlic Puree
1 large tomatoe
2 tsp tomatoe puree
0.33 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin
4 tsp olive oil
1 cups water

Recipe Directions for fasouliya-low sodium

  1. Soak beans over night

  2. Drain beans

  3. Heat olive oil and add cumin & salt

  4. Stir continously for 2 mins. Don't allow cumin to burn

  5. Gently saute onions and ginger in the olive oil

  6. Add tomatoe puree and stir for a 2mins.

  7. Finely chop tomatoes and add to pan.

  8. Add pinto beans and water, so that the water is level with the mixture.

  9. Allow tomatoes to become very soft.

  10. Great with flat bread and is sometimes cooked with lamb shanks.
