Homemade bread, a family recipe! This recipe is from my mother-in-law.

Recipe Ingredients for Family Recipe Homemade Bread

3 cup Flour
1/4 oz SAF Red Instant Yeast
1 tsp Salt, Table
1 1/4 cup (8 fl oz) Water
2 tbsp Olive Oil

Recipe Directions for Family Recipe Homemade Bread

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, add 1.5 cups (about 6.5 oz.) of the flour, 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (recommended) (alternatively 1 packet active dry yeast), and 1 tsp salt. Mix with a fork.

  2. 2. Add 1 1/4 cup (10 oz.) very warm water, 2 tablespoons (30 g) of oil (olive or vegetable). Mix together by hand or mixer.

  3. 3. Add the rest of the flour, 1/2 cup (2 oz.) at a time. Mix until forms a stiff ball

  4. 4. If mixing by hand, put on floured surface and kneed. Add flour as needed. Kneed for five minutes.

  5. 5. Put the dough into a greased bowl. Turn it upside down to grease all sides.

  6. 6. Cover and put in a warm place, let rise for 45 minutes to an hour until it has approximately doubled.

  7. 7. Punch down the dough. Optionally split the dough to make two loaves.

  8. 8. Put the dough into a greased 8.5 x 4.5 loaf pan. Allow to rise 45 minutes to an hour until puffy.

  9. 9. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
