Recipe Ingredients for Endives with Ham and Bechamel Sauce

1 lb Belgian endives
1 salt
5 oz boiled ham, low-salt
2 c tomato sauce
2 oz Swiss cheese, diced
2 oz Parmesan cheese
1 T butter

Recipe Directions for Endives with Ham and Bechamel Sauce

  1. Rinse the endives, cut bottoms, and cook in slightly salted water until tender. Drain.

  2. Preheat oven to 375 degress. Wrap a slice of ham around each endive. Place in a baking dish. Pour the tomato sauce over the endives. Sprinkle the cheese on top and dot with butter.

  3. Put the gratin in the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Finish with 1 minute under the broiler to give a nice brown top. Serve warm with country bread and a simple green salad.
