Homemade enchilada sauce that I use for burritos and other Mexican dishes

Recipe Ingredients for Enchilada Sauce

4 tbsp Shortening
2 oz Gold Medal All Purpose Flour
4 tbsp Chili Powder
4 cup (8 fl oz) Water
8 oz Tomato Sauce
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Salt, Table

Recipe Directions for Enchilada Sauce

Melt the shortening, then add flour. Mix and let thicken (like starting gravy). Add one cup of water. Stir constantly, adding in the rest of the ingredients alternated with the additional cups of waters. Continue cooking over medium heat until it reaches the consistency you like (the longer it cooks, the more it will thicken).
