I found this recipe online and it turned out pretty well.

Recipe Ingredients for Easy Dolmades

6 oz grape leaves
1 lb ground beef
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp sea salt
8 oz brown rice, uncooked

Recipe Directions for Easy Dolmades

  1. Mix the Zattarain's Dirty rice mix and uncooked beef together in a bowl.

  2. Remove grape leaves from jar, lay out stem side up, cut off stems.

  3. In a large pot, swish a little of the olive oil around the bottom and cover the bottom with any small or broken leaves.

  4. Lay whole leave on smooth surface.

  5. Pinch out meat mix (about 1 tbsp per leaf), form into an elongated ball, and place into the center of the leaf.

  6. Fold in corners and roll leaf up.

  7. Place in the pot, seam side down.

  8. Once all dolmades are in the pot, sprinkle with salt and a splash of oil.

  9. Add enough water to pot to cover the first layer of dolmades.

  10. Place a flot plate or lid on top of dolmades to keep them from unrolling when cooking.

  11. Heat to a boil.

  12. Reduce heat to simmer, cover with lid.

  13. Simmer for 45 minutes.

  14. Use tongs to carefully remove from pot.

  15. Refrigerate until cool before serving.
