Easy basic cornbread recipe. Feel free to add cheese, whole kernal corn, jalapenos or other peppers to it depending on your mood.

Recipe Ingredients for Easy Cornbread

6 tbsp Butter
0.75 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Unenriched
1 cup Cornmeal, Degermed, Unenriched, Yellow
3 tsp Sugars, Granulated
1.5 Teaspoon Baking Powder
0.5 tsp Leavening Agents, Baking Soda
0.25 dash Salt, Table
2 large Egg, Whole

Recipe Directions for Easy Cornbread

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly grease an 8" baking pan.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

  3. In a seperate bowl mix together the eggs, butter milk and butter. Pour the buttermilk mixture into the cornmeal mixture and fold together until there are no dry spots (the batter will be lumpy). Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.

  4. Bake until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean about 20 - 25 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
