Recipe Ingredients for Drop Biscuits

1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp shortening
1/2 cup skim milk
1/2 tbsp lemon juice

Recipe Directions for Drop Biscuits

  1. Preheat oven to 450. Line baking sheet with parchment.

  2. Mix milk and lemon juice in a cup (or just use buttermilk if you have it). Set aside.

  3. Combine flour, salt, baking powder and soda in a bowl.

  4. Add butter and shortening, cut into small pieces, and cut in or work in with the fingers until a fine meal is achieved.

  5. Add in the milk and mix with a wooden spoon.

  6. Drop onto baking sheet and bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes.
