Can I drink tea instead of plain water?

You may drink tea instead of water, but limit your overall caffeine consumption to 400 mg a day.  An 8-ounce serving of black tea provides 50 mg of caffeine, and so you can drink 8 cups of tea if it is your only source of caffeine. The phytochemicals in tea offer important health benefits including protection against osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and some cancers.  Tea also contains fluoride which hardens the bones and teeth and kills bacteria to control the formation of plaque and bad breath.  Read about the benefits of drinking black and green tea at
