The original recipe calls for chicken and the recomended servings given was 3-4. I've adjusted it to 8 BERBERE SEASONING: 1 teaspoon ground ginger 3 tablespoon cayenne pepper 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Recipe Ingredients for Doro Wat (Ethiopian Turkey)

1 kg turkey breast, meat only, cut into large pieces
1/4 cup olive oil
2 clove garlic (large), minced
1/10 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 t cayenne pepper
0.03 t ground cloves
1/20 t cinnamon
3 oz. tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup chicken stock
2 onions, chopped
8 hard boiled egg, per person

Recipe Directions for Doro Wat (Ethiopian Turkey)

  1. Score turkey meat so that sauce can penetrate meat.

  2. Melt margarine in large pot. Saute the onions and garlic for 5 minutes.

  3. Add 1 teaspoon berbere seasoning (the seasonings in the recipe reflect a teaspoon of the mixture in description), and then the tomato paste.

  4. Simmer 15 minutes.

  5. Stir in the turkey one piece at a time, stirring so the chicken gets well coated. Simmer about 20 minutes.

  6. Take out some liquid, stir the peanut butter into the liquid, and then return all to the pot. Stir.

  7. Lightly score the eggs, and gently place in the pot.

  8. Cover and continue cooking until chicken is done.
