yummy lentil dhal - use whatever color lentil you want

Recipe Ingredients for dhal

1/2 lb. lentils
2 cups water
1 large onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
4 T. butter
1 T. ground coriander
1 tsp. ground turmeric
1 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. chili powder
2 T. curry powder

Recipe Directions for dhal

  1. cook lentils in water until soft (1/2 hr or so). add water as needed

  2. sautee onion in butter or ghee or earth balance

  3. mix the spices in a small bowl and add enough apple cider vinegar to make a thick paste, add to onions to release scents.

  4. add lentils

  5. salt to taste

  6. simmer to heat
