Apple tart with apricot almond glaze!

Recipe Ingredients for Deluxe Apple Tart

3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup wheat flour
1/8 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 tbsp white sugar
1 tbsp brown sugar
4 tbsp butter
1/8 tsp salt
3 large apples, sliced
1 tsp lemon juice
2 tsp brown sugar, packed
1 tsp honey
1 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tbsp brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup slivered almonds

Recipe Directions for Deluxe Apple Tart

  1. Knead together flour, wheat germ, oats, 2 tbsp sugar (white + brown,) 2 tbsp water, butter and salt until formed in a ball. (Add more water if necessary.)

  2. Pat dough into pie pan, or springform pan to within 2 inches to top of pan. Refrigerate for 30 to 120 minutes. (The longer, the easier, usually.)

  3. Preheat oven to 400.

  4. Mix the thinly sliced apples with lemon juice, honey and 2 tsp brown sugar.

  5. Pour applesauce into pie crust and top with apple mixture, in pretty concentric circles.

  6. Bake 30-40 minutes until apples are tender and lightly brown.

  7. In small pan, mix 8 oz. sugar free apricot preserves [Not listed in ingredients, because sugar-free not an option. Must add separately later- sorry!] with brown sugar and cook over medium high heat until mixture coats spoon.

  8. Brush apricot mixture onto apple pie and scatter slivered almonds on top. Bake an additional 10 minutes, until hot n' bubbly.

  9. Enjoy!
