NoPudge brownies, Cool Whip lite, less toffee (just on top), and pudding with skim milk help to lighten up this notoriously heavy recipe, without sacrificing awesome chocolate flavor!

Recipe Ingredients for Death by Chocolate (Lite) 9/6/08

21 oz. angel food cake mix, 2 box NoPudge brownies
1 1/2 c. vanilla yogurt
12 oz. cool whip, 24 oz. cool whip lite
8 oz. toffee, crushed
4 1/2 c. skim milk
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. unsweetened cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. cornstarch

Recipe Directions for Death by Chocolate (Lite) 9/6/08

  1. Bake brownies- one box as-is, with 2/3 c. yogurt, and the other with first 1/4 c. dark cocoa, and 1 tsp. coffee, then 3/4+ cups of yogurt. Spread half of mix into each side of a well-greased 9x13 pan, bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes, cool thoroughly. You will use roughly 3/4 OF EACH BOX WHEN BAKED. Save and eat the rest :)

  2. Meanwhile, make pudding- use half of ingred. (after milk) in each. Light pudding- use 1/2 c. sugar, and 1/3 c. regular cocoa. For dark pudding, use 1/2 c. or a little more sugar, and 1/4 c. dark cocoa plus 2 T light. Each pudding gets 1 tsp. vanilla as it cools, in a separate shallow bowl.

  3. Layering: 1) Dark brownies & pudding, 2) 12 oz. Cool whip, 3) Light brownies & pudding, 4) 12 oz. Cool Whip, 5) Crushed toffee.

  4. Chill 4 hours or overnight before serving. This indulgence only gets better with age, up to about 4 days :)
