Recipe of Carolyn Miller, from "The Best of Country Cooking 2001" Very rich, that's why I say 12 serving.

Recipe Ingredients for Date pudding cobbler

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp cold butter
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup chopped dates
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup water

Recipe Directions for Date pudding cobbler

In a bowl, combine flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar and paking powder. Cut in butter until crumbly. Gradually add milk, dates and walnuts. In a saucepan, combine water and 1 cup brown sugar; bring to a boil. Remove from the heat; add the date mixture and mix well. Transfer to a greased 8-in. square baking pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until golden brown. If desired, top each serving with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkling of cinnamon. Yield: 9 servings.
